ski tension

Question
I bought my 11 yr old daughter 130cm Dynamic skis.  she fits into my old boots. I checked and they fit into the bindings (marker - biotech). she is a beginner, only gone about 3 times.  How do I know what to set the tension at.  they are currently set at 2.25.  Will a woman's boot into a child binding affect how I should set the tension.  she is strictly a snowplower right now, but I anticipate her moving into intermediate level skiing relatively quickly this season.

Answer
Unfortunately I cannot answer this question for you. Binding settings (as on the DIN scale) is a representation of the measurement of force required to release the ski boot from the binding under certain circumstances. The information that is required to determine the setting is based on the following:

1) boot sole length
2) skier's height and weight
3) skier type (which really represents the level of risk acceptable to the skier that a binding will or will not release in certain situations
4)skier's age if they are over 50

These settings are actually based on averages of  new binding and boot combinations only as the factor of friction introduced into the system by wear on the bottom of the boot sole and the points of contact with the binding itself (called the interfaces) cannot be assessed accurately without testing.

It is important to determine first if the binding will accept an adult boot properly. Some children's bindings are not able to or were not designed to do this.In addition whether the boot has the correct amount of forward pressure set at the heel piece in order to load the toe piece to cycle or function accurately needs to be insured before settings are adjusted.

For this reason it is recommended that you take the binding to a shop that employs a technician  certified in this manufacturer's equipment. I cannot give you the information you have requested online.
