the right boot

Question
Hello Lisa,

I hope this finds you well.

I am a never/never tele skier (been alpine for years) and have broken all my toes in one of my feet (well, 17 years ago).  With reconstructive surgery, I am not really able to bend toes very well.  Always wanted to tele just never could.

I just saw a new pair of Crispi XR's that seemed as though the flex was far more limited than most, of which I really need.  Do you know anything about current market gear?  If so, are there any other boots that you would recomend that have stiffer toe flex?

Thank you so much in advance,
Eric Magers

Answer
Here is the reply I got from Boulder Outdoor Centre.. hope you find it useful.

As far as tele boots are concerned, the Crispi X-R boot is about as stiff as they come.  However, they still flex laterally at the toes, as do all tele boots.

If you are really having a problem that boots can't fix, you may want to consider switching to an AT setup.  This setup will allow you to ski the backcountry as usual, lock in for downhill slopes, and eliminates boots that flex at the toe altogether.  To check out these boots on our site

I hope this helps some.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact us again.

Sincerely,
Lisa
