My first skis

2016/7/22 11:06:39

Question
Just hoped you could give me a little advice. I'm thinking about buying my first pair of skis. I've been on six skiing holidays, I wouldn't say I was particularly great but I am trying to improve. I mainly get pushed in to skiing on black and red runs with friends who are better than I am! I would appreciate some advice on what type of skis and bindings, around the ?00 mark, would suit me and help progression. I have tried a little off-piste but this is not the norm. Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Answer
thanks for your question....
...buying skis...

i'd have to say that buying boots should be your first purchase. With bad boots no ski is going to be of any use.
You didn't mention owning boots - so i'll assume you don't have them either.

Once you have the right boot for your foot, you'll be a new man on skis.

Most places these days hire out decent skis, so from there you can get a good idea about wnat it is you want to ski on. I'd suggest a middle of the range ski - not too stiff, but not too light that it will give you a death wobble if you should happen to open them up on the groomed stuff.

Could you write back and let me know if you have boots - if not, i'll verse you on getting the right boots and how to avoid the lemons as best you can.
If you've boots - how do they feel on your feet? firm, loose, tight?
from there i'll get into the ski thing.

Sorry, but i'd like to make sure you do this the cheapest way. For example if i verse you in a ski then oyu go and get boots next year - the skis will be not wnat you remembered them as.
