new ski purchase

Question
I am an expert skier who skis entiely in the west. I have been on an old pair of
Atomic Metron B5's and loved them. (165 cm) . I am thinking of buying two
pairs this year, one powder and one all mountain. I like off piste & trees but
have to ski inbounds to get there.  I am thinking of Rosi S7's or Ski Logik
Ullr's Chariot combined with a Volk AC50 or perhaps an ATomic Crimison TI.
ANy suggestions would be appreciated. Also what length should I go for? Tx.

Answer
Hey Jim,

It's hard to recommend a particular length as all I don't know your height, just your old ski length. If you are comfortable on a 165cm, then staying near that length should do you well. You may want to go a little longer for the powder ski and around that length for an all mountain ski.

Hopefully you are skiing enough powder to justify owning a pair of powder skis and all mountain skis. Your choices are very comparable and any of them should suit your needs.

A couple of questions I would ask, does the powder last all day?  If yes, a powder ski should be in the quiver. If no, would an all mountain ski suffice? If so, maybe look for something with just a little wider tip and tail for better float in the powder and still perform well on the groomed. There are so many factors that will be specific to you, where you ski, normal conditions, and how often you get to enjoy the fresh powder days.

Hope this helps.
Keep on skiing,
Windlover
