Masters around Seattle or Bellevue, WA?

Question
I have a wonderful fiance who fell in love with diving in High School but gave it up after graduation. Last weekend we happened upon a pool with a springboard and he couldn't get enough of it. His birthday is at the end of August and I'd love to find him a club or lessons so he can re-connect with this sport he obviously loves, but I'm having trouble finding any. I checked out http://usadiving.org and http://www.mastersdiving.org/ but didn't find much of anything in our area. Do you know anyone in this area who teaches or runs a club?
Thanks so much for your time.

Answer
Hi Liz -

I think the best place to start is to look into what the Queen Anne Pool in Seattle has to offer. It is located at the top of Queen Anne hill and offers recreational diving lessons to all ages. Their web address is www.seattle.gov/parks/aquatics/Pools/queenanne/schedule.htm.

The reason you did not find anything at the websites I send people to is because there are not very many pools that offer practices to adults. There are not many places in the Puget Sound area in general where there are pools with deep water for diving boards.Masters diving is practically non existent in the Seattle area.In Bellevue, the pools with diving boards are only for high school students.

There is a world class aquatic center in Federal Way that has several diving teams (club and high school programs) but they tend to only take college age and younger divers. The pool is called the King County Aquatic Center and has hosted many high level diving events. It is the site of next years NCAA championships and the USA Diving Olympic Trials. It is considered one of the best indoor diving pools in the US.

If the Queen Anne program becomes not challenging enough and he wants to practice at a higher level and compete in meets, I would look into the two club programs, Pacific Northwest Diving and Emerald Diving teams that use the diving equipment in Federal Way.
