Diving in Western PA

Question
Hi Tom,
I am looking for a diving club or school for my 13 year old son. We belong to a swim club that has a swim team but not a diving team.  My son is homeschooled and would be allowed on our district school team but again, they don't have a diving board. Do you know of any other avenue I can look into for him?  Thank you for anything you can suggest.

Answer
Michelle -

Go to these websites to find a program near you:

www.usadiving.org - Click on Clubs and then Find A Club. Enter PA and a list of teams will come up.Most successful program is found at the University of Pittsburgh run by my friend Julian Krug and his wife Doe.

www.aaudiving.org. The homepage will have info on how to find a team.

www.divemeets.com - Click on Lists of Teams, Divers and Coaches at the top of the home page. Then click on Teams. A huge list of teams from all over the world will come up. The first section to look under is Amateur Athletic Union. Scroll down the section and look for teams in PA. Click on the teams name for contact info. Then scroll down to NCAA. Look for colleges under PA and do the same thing. Finally, scroll all the way down to USA Diving Teams and do the same for info on contact as the other sections.

www.flipnrip.com - Site for diving families. Also has info on how to find a team.

www.diving.about.com. Great site for families new to diving. You won't find a team here but it has good info on the sport.

Good luck in your search. I am sure you will find something.

P.S. Also try looking for teams in Eastern Ohio that are close to Western PA like in Akron.
