Diving instructors near Jersey City

Hi Tom, I have been going through your posts and as suggested, I tried looking up for diving clubs in New Jersey and New York. All clubs are atleast an hour away from jersey city (zip 07302). If you know about any diving coach or facility closer to jersey city, that would be a big help. My 6 year old daughter is extremely inrerested in learning to dive and I have not been able to find any coach so far.

In looking a Google Maps on the internet, I saw that you are only about 10 miles from Columbia University. The diving coach there, Gordon Spencer, has had a club program in the past. I do not know if he takes kids this young but it is worth a try. Go to www.gocolumbialions.com, and look for the coaches directory where you will find his phone and e-mail.If you do not hear back right away, it is because he could be away at meets recruiting new college divers. It is also possible that his team is on a break or the pool is shut down to perform repairs for the upcoming school year. You may even want to take the short trip to the pool on campus and see for yourself if he has a lesson program for her. Sometimes college divers give lessons to new young divers in the NYC area.
