Starting Platform Diving at 14: Is It Too Late?
Question
Is 14 to old to start platform diving.
Answer
Greg-
14 is not too old to start diving. If you are new to diving and have no previous experience then you need to learn the sport first on the one meter springboard. That is where all divers start. When they are good at that level, they then learn the 3 meter springboard. After that, if they like platform, they learn on the 5 meter height. Only the most accomplished divers pursue the next two heights, the 7.5 meter and then the 10 meter. If you already know how to dive springboard, ask your coach if you are ready for the platform.
