Finding a diving club

Question
Hi Tom, I've just graduated high school and I'm now very interested in springboard diving. I have no experience in diving, but I do have 2 years of cheer background which included tumbling. I want to join a diving club before I join a varsity team in college, but I am having trouble finding any around the central valley in California. I have gone to usadiving.org but I can't figure out how to find a club on that site. Do you know of any clubs in or around the central valley?

The reason you cannot find a club at the USA Diving website is because there are no registered clubs in that area. If you go to www.aaudiving.org and click on "Diving Sport Contacts" it will take you to map of the US. Click on #46 for the Central California District. A guy named Rich Foell should be able to send you in right direction.

Other ways to find diving coaches include:

Try contacting the diving coach at the College of Sequoias, a junior college in the central valley or any other J.C.'s like Modesto or Madera.

There is a great pool at Clovis West High School that may have a diving program.

Fresno State is starting a new women's swimming and diving varsity program this fall. Find out who the new diving coach is and maybe they know someone who can teach you.

Cal State Bakersfield has a great diving coach named Larry Everingham. He may know someone in your area.

I hope you can find someone with this information.
