Find Masters Diving Lessons in Sunnyvale, CA - Coach Trapp
Question
Dear Coach Trapp,
Would you be able to provide any contact info for (beginners) masters diving lessons near or around Sunnyvale 94087? Neither De Anza nor Foothill seems to offer any diving lessons. I've emailed Coach R. Foell, who mentioned Stanford, but unfortunately there was no further information from him. Would really love to learn to dive. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Answer
Hi Eric-
Always happy to provide diving information for the area that I coached in for many years. I used to have practices for adults when I worked at Foothill and De Anza (1980's & 90's) but I think they dropped them after I moved.
The person you want to contact to dive at Stanford is Alex Lapidus. He dives there with a coach named Tanya. They have a large team of adult divers who dive for fun and recreational competition He can be reached at: alex@lapidus.com.
You might also try the Santa Clara Swim Center where I coached from 1981 to 1997. The program director there is Mark: coachmark@santaclaradiving.com. They might have a program for adults but I am not sure.
The website for Masters Diving is www.mastersdiving.com. It has lots of info about diving for adults in the US.
You can also go to www.usadiving.org, click on divers and then click on masters. There you will find a message from Alex Lapidus about masters diving in the US.
Good luck with your pursuit of this great sport!!
Tom Trapp
