Optimal Swimming Training Hours for 11-Year-Olds: Avoiding Burnout
Question
my daughter is eleven years old and I need to know how many housr she should train per week? One coach says 10 hours and 1 landtraining another says at least six and i land training. My daughter is also a good runner and training athletics when she is not swimming...I'd like to know what is reasonable as I do not want her to burn out before she is 14 years old!
Answer
Hi Beverly!
At your daughter's age and what you have told me above her athletic level I would trust the coach that said 10 hours a week of training is normal. It remains like this throughout a swimming career except for the occasional addition of land training and some two-a-days of training every so often around but that is mostly in high school training.
I hope this helps!
