hip flexor muscle involvement in swimming

Question
I am a very active female who has recently injured my right hip flexor during a mtn bike accident.  Swimming seems to aggravate the condition considerably (especially kick sets).  I was planning on doing a sprint triathlon this July but am unsure about continuing the swimming training.  Are there any strokes or swimming techniques that lesson the strain on the hip flexor, or should I just rest it???

Answer

Depending on the severity of the injury, you can still train, just try to stay away from kicking drills.  Your hip flexor is involved in all aspects of swimming, so there really isn't a stroke to do to avoid it, the only way to do that is to train with a pull bouy, which isolates the upper body by not letting you kick.
Good Luck,
George
