breathing sets


Question
I am told that i don't try in sets  that involve little or no breathing because i don't make many of them,  my question is, is there a diffrent lung capacity for everyone no matter how long they been swimming or how hard they try?

Answer
Yes, everyone has a different lung capacity.  The thing to remember is that you do hypoxic(breath holding) sets for 2 reasons.
1 To improve your ability to hold your breath.  You should always try to push yourself a little further each time you do these sets. Yes it's hard but it is important.
2.They are important in order to prepare you and your body for the end of a race when your body is tired and oxygen depleted.  At the end of a race(the last10-15 yards/meters) you shouldn't be breathing, except in breast/back stroke, because you are faster when not breathing and you can focus on your finish.
It is hard to do this type of training(I know, I've been there) but it is important.
Remember, your brain is stronger than your body, If you think you can, you will; if you think you can't you will never be able to.  Always think positive and aggressive.
