Hi Dave,

Do the commentators in WWE & TNA know who is going to win the match or how it is going to end? Or are the in any kind of contact with the Ref ? I seen somewhere that they use subtle hand signals ?

Hi Martin.  Thanks for the question.

I can't really be sure for all of them, but I think it depends on the particular announcer.

I read something about Jim Ross a while back, and he said he prefers to know the outcomes ahead of time, as it helps him prepare for his job better.  At the same time, he said Jerry Lawler doesn't like to know everything that is going to happen, as he likes the element of surprise.

As far as I know, the announcers aren't in contact with the ref.  I don't why they would have to be, unless they are involved in the match in someway, and the ref is giving them their cue.  The refs do wear an earpiece, and is in contact with officials backstage.
