In Summertime, Discover The La Plagne Resort In France

La Plagne comprises four charming village resorts, open for the summer season from June 28th to August 30th: Champagny en Vanoise, Plagne Montalbert, Montchavin and Les Coches. Six high altitude resorts are also part of the La Plagne resort: Aime la Plagne, Belle Plagne, Plagne Villages/Soleil, Plagne Belle c'te, Plagne Centre and Plagne 1800. Because of their altitude, ranging from 1800m to 2100m, these have a slightly shorter summer opening season.

Here, extreme sport enthusiasts will get as much adrenalin as they can stand. First, they can try the Arapaho: a hybrid device, half scooter half mountain bike, which enables to ride down almost effortlessly all sorts of tracks. The mountainboard, another hybrid machine combining the attributes of BMX and skateboard, is also a must-try for adrenalin seekers. It is comprised of four wheels mounted on 2 axles, topped off with a central tray fitted with foot straps. To get your feet off the ground, La Plagne offers exceptionally good paragliding opportunities, as it counts many good flying sites sheltered from the wind. Among the offered white water activities are the classic kayaking, paddling, canyoning, rafting and white water swimming, but also the less usual hot-dog and cataraft.

For those of you who prefer less adrenalin-packed activities, La Plagne still has plenty to offer. Helicopter rides, for one, enable you to visit beautiful landscapes and the most inaccessible spots and the hiking trails are countless. On the 15 Km cycle track that runs from Aime to Bourg-St-Maurice, cyclists, joggers or rollerbladers can practice their sport in peace.

Swimmers will love it in La Plagne since many options are available to have a refreshing dive. Lakes are plenty and the Ponturin Valley, where some of them are found, is just an short walk away from the Rosuel refuge. Wild raspberries and bilberries are just waiting to be picked along the way. The outdoor swimming pool offers exquisite scenery to add to the pleasure of swimming a few lengths and the artificial lake Macot is a perfect place for kids. Its leisure center has children’s games, ping-pong tables and picnic areas with barbecues, and the lake is watched over by lifeguards in the afternoon.

And after days full of diverse activities, you might want to treat yourself in one of the three wellness centers available in the high altitude resorts. In Plagne Bellec'te, Le Scandinaviane offers saunas, hammam, jaccuzzi, a solarium and massages. Vita Plagne, in Plagne Centre, also offers saunas and hammams, as well as massages and cosmetic treatments. Finally, in Belle Plagne, the Centre forme Belle Plagne puts available a weight training room on top of all the installations and services listed above.

Each of la Plagne’s resorts has its own individual personality but the village resorts as well as the high altitude resorts offer a wide range of accommodation options, from the 4-star hotel to the self-catered apartments. Wellness centers, restaurants, bars and clubs will make lazy vacationers and serious athletes equally satisfied of their summer vacations in La Plagne!.
