Reach Your Goals While Golfing

You know that old saying, practice makes perfect? Well when it comes to golf if it doesn’t make you perfect it will at least make you better. So that’s why, when you are playing golf, you need to practice, especially the new people just starting out at playing the sport, but this practice is important for everyone else as well – even the pros!

If you want to be good you have to try hard and work harder. So, while you are out playing golf take some notes, these notes will help you to analyze your golfing ability; it will show you your strengths and your weaknesses. Then think of some goals you would like to accomplish in golf. You first have to keep track of your statistics during a round of golf, it’s simple, and you will often record these on your scorecard during a game anyway. There are 4 main areas to write down:

? The number of shots you take on the fairway
? The number of shots to land on the green
? The number of putts you made
? Any game skills you used while playing

The first two are statistics from a long range; the second two are from within 100 yards from the green, also known as the tough shots. Now you have to decide which of these is the strongest and the weakest of your traits. Once you have decided what your weakest trait is you can set that as your target area for improvement over the coming months.

The third step is to practice on improving your performance. For example, if you are having a hard time making your tee shots land on the fairway make it your goal to get there at least 50% of the time. In order to accomplish your goal you have to work at it, just as hard as you would any other goal, possibly even harder as you may have to correct some natural irregularities such as a natural slice or hook in your shot.

You then need to keep track of your progress so you can see for yourself whether your practice is paying off and potentially move on to another area of your game that needs tuning. You can work at your goal by first practicing your swing, often considered the most important part of playing golf. You should go to the driving range a couple of times a week so you can get the swing you need. After a whilst your adjustments you make in order to nail straighter tee shots will become second nature and come naturally when you next take to the golf course itself.

Last, you need to check your progress by going to the golf course and checking to see if you can put these drills into practice, making sure to compare your score cards and notes after play. If you have accomplished your goal then go onto the next and if you haven’t then you may need more practice.

Golf skills don’t come overnight so it is important you put the practice in, free golf lessons can be found online for great advice but you can also get golf handicap certificates online too by entering a few details about your latest games.
