What's to see if you're camping around Holmfirth/Holme Moss for Le Tour Yorkshire?

2016/7/26 17:43:26

In a few weeks the riders will be arriving in the Holme Valley to fight it out for the first King of the Mountain points. If you've booked Holme Moss camping you'll be wondering what is going on in the valley over the weekend.

The Holmfirth Vineyard will be hosting a charity sportsmans dinner on the evening of July 4th in order to raise funds for Holmfirth Junior & Infant School. The evening will consist of a locally sourced and produced 3 course meal, a sporting guest speaker and a charity auction, all whilst overlooking the wonderful vineyard and it's spectacular view across the Holme Valley and the Tour De France race route!

The vineyard then follows this up with a Family Wine and Beer Festival on July 5th. An all-day event including bouncy castles, children's entertainment, beer and wine tasting, a hog roast, bbq, guest wines and beers from Yorkshire and live music.

The annual Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival returns a little earlier than usual to fit in with the Grand Depart weekend and will be filling the village with the usual array of food and drink stalls from around the world. The festival will take place all day on the 5th and 6th July and has all the exciting culinary delights to explore and sample.

The Vineyard goes for the hatrick with a final event on the 6th July with a 'Tour de France Race Day' with VIP hospitality. You won't miss any of the action of the race on the large screens in the specially erected marquee whilst also taking in the breath taking views of the Holme Valley and watching the riders approach the Holme Moss climb.

If you don't fancy hiking up to the top of the Moss then Sands Recreational Ground has been listed as one of the official Le Tour Yorkshire Spectator Hubs. Here you'll find a local food & drink market and large screens to watch the race route coverage from. Over 10,000 people are expected to make their way into the village and to capture this, 10,000 bright yellow ducks will be tipped into the river that passes by the grounds for the annual Holmfirth Duck Race!

Finally, the Picturedrome in conjunction with Timothy Taylors is hosting a beer festival all weekend and will be unveiling its speciality beer ‘Le Champion' which has been brewed specifically for the Tour de France. All pints will be only £2.50 for the whole weekend and there'll be plenty of live music to enjoy whilst the race route passes just yards away.

There's plenty of other exciting events and projects taking place so wherever your Holmfirth Camping is there's plenty on over the course of the next few weeks as we all come together to create a unique and fabulous experience. Get involved in what's going to be the Greatest Show on Earth!
