5 Most Difficult Mountains To Climb

If you are looking for a real test of endurance (and if you don’t mind cold weather), you may be interested in tackling five of the most difficult mountains to climb. Be warned that each mountain comes with a variety of dangerous obstacles. It takes an ambitious climber to reach these summits.

  1. K2. The second highest of difficult mountain on our planet is the K2. With a peak elevation of about 8,591 meters, it is dwarfed only Mount Everest. This difficult mountain is located in the Karakoram range, which stretches across the borders of Pakistan, India and China.
  2. Matterhorn. The Matterhorn is part of the Pennine Alps, a mountain range between Switzerland and Italy. This difficult mountain is famous for its odd shape. The Matterhorn has two summits; the Swiss peak is 4,477 meters, while the Italian peak is slightly shorter. 
  3. Mount Vinson. Mt. Vinson is the highest summit in Antarctica. This difficult mountain is especially dangerous due to its position on this frigid and isolated continent. Its peak reaches 4,892 meters.
  4. Kangchenjunga . Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain on Earth and part of the Himalayas, the highest mountain range. Its name translates to “Five Treasures of the Great Snow.” It is named for its five summits.
  5. Anapurna. Annapurna has the tenth highest mountain in the world. However, many climbers consider this the most dangerous difficult mountain to climb as it holds the highest fatality rate. Due to the incredible difficulty and risks that the trek provides, it is one of the least climbed mountains.
