Miniature basset hounds are not officially recognized by any major kennel clubs. However, some breeders may cross basset hounds with smaller breeds to create dogs with basset hound-like features in a smaller size. These dogs may be referred to as "mini bassets" or "toy bassets," but they are not considered to be the same breed as basset hounds.
