Great Magnetic Fly Box

2016/7/18 11:28:01

Since some fishing seasons are over and ice fishing isn’t here yet, lets make some gear.

Here’s a way to make a nice magnet fly box to hold those small size 24 Nymphs and bugs that always give you a problem. This is also a great way to get the kids involved in making a great xmas gift for the angler in the family.

Start of by finding some tin boxes, the ones that mints or cough drops come in. The one I’m showing is a Hershey’s chocolate tin.

Then you cut a magnetic sheet (Dollar store) to fit the bottom of your tin, they are self-adhesive.The sheet will hold those small flies in place so it is easy to pick them out.

Then cut ¼ inch foam strips (Dollar store snowflake was the right thickness) and glue them the length of the tins top. This will hold those dry flies.

That’s it, you got yourself a great little fly box that will fit in your pocket or fishing vest.

Heres one I made out of a tin Walleye knife set that I bought at a flea market. The fish makes the box here look better. Fisherman’s friend cough drops make a nice fly box.

If you can’t find a nice tin, you can buy ones they use for xmas gift cards at the dollar store or Giant tiger cheap.

Use them the way they are or find a fishing sticker to cover them up and make them fishing fancy.

I kind of like this one… FISH-ON! Cookster.
