California Public Golf Courses Offer Variety and Savings

2016/7/19 15:27:11

What are you looking for in a golf course? Just a basic occasional game? Exclusivity? Additional amenities such as a restaurant, an on-site pro shop, tennis, swimming or...?

LA golf courses are nothing if not diverse (and considering there are hundreds in the Southern California region alone, well they should be). Just in Orange County, golf courses are so numerous that you can't drive in any direction for more that a mile or two without passing one. With so many golf courses in California to choose from, your greatest difficulty will be settling on just one!

Private or Public?

This is a toss up. California public golf courses are less expensive (and in some cases, free); you are not locked into a long-term membership. If a fee is charged, you pay only for the time you're there. California public golf courses are a good way to go if you just play an occasional game and want some variety.

On the other hand, for the rabid golfer who is out on the green on a daily basis, private golf courses in California may be a better option. For one thing, once you paid your membership, you can use the golf course at your leisure, generally whenever you like. You can usually bring a guest or two as well for no additional charge (although this can vary from one club to another). Many Orange County golf courses that are also private clubs offer additional amenities as well. A fair number of golf courses in California are located near lodging, if they don't have such facilities right there on the grounds.

Scenery and More

Sometimes, LA golf courses especially offer more than just a challenging game. Many golf courses in California, particularly the more venerable ones that date back to the early days when movie moguls were just starting out with silent films, offer some spectacular scenery and landscaping, with views of the Pacific Ocean and more. Most of these are private; however, there are a fair number of California public golf courses that have visual appeal as well as offering a good game.

When you're deciding among golf courses in California, consider the level of play. California public golf courses as well as private country clubs offer a range of difficulty; if you are a newcomer to the game and attempt a difficult course, you are liable to get frustrated; on the other hand, an experienced golfer will quickly become bored is the course is too easy. Read the reviews and communicate with other golfers; they can help you in choosing the right place to play.
