My Day of Golf at the Marriott Desert Springs

2016/7/19 16:21:24

On our last trip to the California desert I had the opportunity to golf at the Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert long been the crown jewel in the Marriott chain. One of the most fun and scenic resort golf courses in the desert there are two 18 - hole resort style courses for vacationers and guests of the hotel.

Designed by acclaimed golf architect Ted Robinson's known as 'King of Waterscapes' the 'Palm' and the 'Valley' courses, as you might imagine, have lots and lots of water hazards.

The two courses were created to provide golfers of all ages and abilities an enjoyable round. The course is littered with bunkers, water hazards and strategically placed trees and the greens are well maintained.

On the day that I played the golf staff placed me in a new high tech drive golf carts with state-of-the-art navigational and computing systems. The on-board GPS computer provided me with a graphic layout of each hole and computed the exact yardage to the pin and hazards.

One of my playing partners did not have his clubs, so the pro shop provided him with top rate with Taylor made clubs. This is a great way to go if you are flying in to the desert and don't want to drag your own clubs through the airport. There is also a Taylor Made Performance Lab directly across from the pro shop if you need to correct that "hitch" in your swing or are simply looking for more distance.

My partner ordered lunch as he teed off from the 18th hole and was waiting for him at Sand Trap & Wedge restaurant. I preferred, however, to wait to eat at one of the hotels Oasis Bar and Grill later that afternoon.

While the boys spend the day on the golf course, the girls can have a spa day at the Spa Desert Springs which is one of the top spas in the desert.

After our day of golf and the ladies day of beauty, we cleaned up and had dinner at the Japanese styled restaurant the Mikado.

On your next golfing vacation to Palm Springs and the desert resort cities be sure to take in a day of golf at the Marriott Desert Springs.
