SkyCaddie SG5 Review - Is It The Best Golf GPS For Your Money?

2016/7/19 16:27:29

Before GPS technology was mainstream, golfers in the past continued to play their game only assisted with minimal hints of technology. Recently, GPS devices have been changing not only the way travelers explore, but also the way ordinary drivers are reaching their destinations. Despite the success stories, some people do not mind these GPS devices because the midrange and high-end devices don't come cheap costing over $300.

GPS devices are also changing the way people work on their golfing. Some devices like the Skycaddie SG5 reached beyond boundaries and found their ways inside golfers' pockets making it a financial success. Although some golfers have praised the functionality and ease of use of the device, others may still wonder if the Skycaddie SG5 is really worth its hefty $350 price tag.

Certain technologies like the IntelliGreen technology work perfectly with the full color display, giving golfers total control of the green. Statistics are easily observed including back yardages, front carry, and the green depth. Once the IntelliGreen Pro, which is still in Beta is released the major tiers, mounds, and contours will be displayed.

The IntelliGreen technology also works with the QuickVue technology which highlights the safest possible path from the tee all the way to the green. With the clear 2.2" backlit LCD display, golfers should be able to immediately recognize the shape of the green and the golf hole. This feature also doubles as a progress tracker where more statistics can be retrieved including the distance between the current position and the green.

The Skycaddie SG5 provides much more than just a visual aid to golfers. Other statistics are stored and displayed which can take the place of traditional scorecards. Golfers that take advantage of digital scoring only have to set their preferences and par for a customized handicap setting. After a shot is made, golfers can press a single button and the device will display exactly how far the ball traveled. This proves useful when experimenting with a variety of clubs.

Not only does the Skycaddie SG5 follow the golfer in terms of location, but it guides the golfer through the entire game, recording all statistics for easy review at any time. Because the device relies on downloaded maps of the courses, the Skycaddie should have no problems.

Another feature that is currently undergoing beta testing is the HoleVue technology. This technology strives to be as accurate as possible in going through the whole course instead of depending on satellite imagery. Not only is this new technology adding to the eye candy, but it also add a lot of significant details including any bunkers, green targets, or other hazards.

The technology used in this device should be enough to convince golfers to plan better and lower their score by using the interface. However, there are other items included in the package like an LCD protector, car charger, and travel case that make the price tag even more reasonable. After doing this Skycaddie SG5 review, we feel the device is well worth the price.
