Some Ideas On Understanding The Golf Swing When You Play

2016/7/19 16:28:00

When you start to play golf the best thing that you can do is to make sure that you take lessons. The reason for this is to make sure that you are understanding the golf swing properly which make up such an important part of the game. Without a good swing you will not be a good player, simple as that. Here are some tips to remember.

First of all you have to remember that speed kills. When you hit a ball you are transferring the energy of the swing into the ball and therefore the harder the swing the further the ball will go.

As a result of this, a small misjudgment on the swing will put the ball way off to the left or right and this can destroy your hole. You need to make an efficient transfer between the backswing and the downswing and this involves a strong body position and rotation of the hips. Look to any pro and you will see that their swing appears effortless. This is what you are aiming for.

When it comes to shorter iron shots the emphasis will be on spin as well in order to make sure that the ball sticks on the green and does not go rolling off to the side. You need to open your stance a little bit and make sure that you swing it under the ball and that you do not roll over it as you would with a drive or wood shot.

You need to get under the ball rather than over it as your would on a drive. The wrists are going to be very important and rather than rolling them over your need to keep them straight and up in order to get decent levels of backspin.

Last of all, when it comes to putting, you will contend with friction and gravity. Your swing needs to be short on the backswing but you should play right through the ball keeping your arms locked. Let the friction of the green and the gravity of the slope do its work.
