Hybrid Golf Clubs - Are They Worth It?

One of the biggest recommendations in golf for both amatuers and pros are the Hybrids. Alot of tour pros, such as Ernie Els and Retief Goosen have one in their bag. But are Hybrid golf clubs worth going out of your way for?

First of all what are Hybrids? These hybrids, or utility clubs, are simply a cross between a fairway wood and an iron. They are made to give the ball more launch in the air for those tough lies and long distances. What manufacturers have done is moved the center of gravity back and more towards the bottom of the club, which therefore helps the ball launch into the air. The face is also flat and has a higher launch angle which gives the ball more spin and also more control. The loft can vary from around 15 to 28 degrees, replacing your 3, 4 and 5 irons and your 3 - 7 woods. They are extremely versatile as they can be used in the fairway, rough or even sand!

When they were first brought onto the market some people were hesistant and a little speculant because they didn't want to risk using something different. But after a few modifications from manufacturers over the years, players all over the world will not go into a round without one.

Nowadays these hybrid clubs are in alot of golfers bags. Beginners can use them and find alot of improvement in their accuracy and consistancy because this these clubs are made for that reason. They make beginners feel good about playing golf from the way the ball comes so beautifully off the face of this incredible innovation.

I myself keep a Hybrid in my bag. Its 23 degrees and it is my go to club when i am in trouble and a long way from the green. In fact i probably use it more than my 2, 3 and 5 irons for this reason. For me they are an amazing piece of equipment because i can get the ball out and up so quickly and consistantly.

There are a huge range of hybrids from all manufacturers for all golfing levels. They vary in price, generally easy on the wallet. For the improvements they bring to peoples game, no matter their style of game or even for a beginner learning their swing, they are a golf club that nobody will regret purchasing.

So with so many players around the world not going a round with a hybrid, including pros like Ernie Els, are they worth you as a golfer to throw one in youy bag along with your other golf clubs?. In my eyes, and many across the globe, there is not a doubt in the world!!!
