Piercing Trajectory Ping i15 Driver Review

2016/7/20 14:27:40

Ping Golf is known for its innovations that became industry standards and golf like club fitting, perimeter, and investment casting in the manufacturing of golf clubs. And their clubs are always hot sales on the golf wholesale market. One area where you can see its commitment to club making is in its metal woods category, with the development of the Ping i15 driver. The i15 driver is Ping's latest driver aimed at the competitive golfer who likes to shape their shots off the tee.

The most radical piece of engineering in the i15 is the "onset" face. As you may have guessed that's the opposite of "offset." The hosel is actually positioned behind the clubface on the i15. This feature is intended to help counter the bane of many "better" players: the hook. Just as offset drivers (hosel positioned in front of the clubface) help slicers minimize their misses, the onset i15 should help players who typically play draws keep the dreaded hooks at bay.

The internal weighting of the Ping i15 driver also contributes to a fade bias, according to PING, as well as helping to lower spin and produce optimum launch conditions. Finally, the i15 sports a bulge crown design (it's higher in the middle) and a deep face, intended to optimize energy transfer.

That said, the Ping i15 driver is a very aesthetically pleasing driver. The traditional pear shaped 460 cc head is designed for maximum and optimal energy transfer. The bulge crown design provides a solid feel with reduced spin. The lower spin allows for a piercing trajectory the better player loves to see. For this reason, the i15 is not very hot on the golf wholesale market.
