Dont forget insurance when going on a golfing holiday

As the past few months have shown, the weather is very unpredictable in the UK. Even though it is technically summer, the country has been experiencing grey clouds, high winds and a great deal of rainfall, which has even led to floods. This means a lot of people will no doubt be sick of the weather, deciding to get away from it all by arranging a summer holiday to a warmer location like Spain or the south of France.

Golfers and indeed other sports enthusiasts who like to be outside will no doubt also be a little dismayed with the weather, especially as it is likely to disrupt some of their games. Although they can still play golf when the weather is not at its best, visibility will be poor and the wind can knock balls off course, meaning their game is nowhere near as good. What is more, players are unlikely to enjoy walking around an 18-jole course if it is cold, windy and wet.

As a result of this, many people might decide to arrange a golfing holiday. This does not have to be as expensive as players might think and if they have a group of friends who all like to play, they might be able to go together and arrange a large party discount. Flights to many European countries can be purchased fairly cheaply these days and it does not have to cost a lot of money to get to the continent.

When they arrive, players can either stay in accommodation provided by a golf course, or book their own - the second option might be cheaper. They will also need to book their games at a club in advance. Although they might be able to turn up at some courses and have a game, this cannot be guaranteed so it is better to make all arrangements in advance.

Another thing players should do before they jet off is arrange their golf insurance. This is something they should have anyway, but it is extra important while they are abroad. Golf equipment costs a lot of money and clubs alone can cost thousands of pounds. If something were to happen to it while people were on their golfing trip they could find themselves seriously out of pocket - which is the last thing they need when they have just forked out for an exciting holiday abroad during a global economic downturn.
