Understanding Golf Clubs

Avid golfers will tell you that choosing Golf Clubs is not as easy as it sounds. Having said that, choosing the right golf club is not rocket science. Avid golfers will tell you that choosing Golf Clubs is not as easy as it sounds. Having said that, choosing the right golf club is not rocket science. As you may be aware, the USGA now limits the size of the clubhead to no more than 460 cc. It goes without saying that the larger the clubhead, the larger the sweet spot, and the more forgiving the driver. Clubheads are made of titanium, steel or a composite material. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Golf Clubs with titanium clubheads, for example, are extremely strong and light. Titanium ensures clubheads can be made bigger and faster clubhead speed. The biggest advantage? The ball travels farther with relatively less effort. Some golfers prefer bottom-heavy Golf Clubs. Golf Clubs with steel clubheads are their personal favorites. Although strong, steel is also heavy compared with titanium. Steel clubheads are typically much smaller than titanium clubheads.

The newer drivers are made of composite material. Some Calloway drivers, for example, are made of a composite material that the company developed in collaboration with the iconic Italian automaker, Lamborghini. Each square inch of the clubheads has a high concentration of carbon fibers, which creates a material that is lighter and stronger than titanium. Each carbon fiber is many times thinner than a strand of human hair. Composite clubheads result in longer drives and an extremely forgiving driver.

The three basic types of Golf Clubs are

1) super game improvement

2) game improvement

3) players clubs.

The first type provides maximum forgiveness while minimizing the player's ability to shape shots. The second variety features mid-sized clubheads, which are not only forgiving but also offer workability. Players clubs, on the other hand, have a more traditional blade style and offer a great deal of workability and feel but at the expense of forgiveness.

The shaft is just as important as the clubhead when choosing an iron set. Shafts are made of steel or graphite. Steel shafts are heavier but provide more feedback and control over the ball flight and trajectory. Graphite shafts are light, absorb vibration, and add yardage.
