Mistakes In A Short Golf Game

"What could go wrong?" It's only a little shot - is the common comment for most of the golfers. These shots are just like the real swing and there is no difference. These short range shots usually go wrong because of lack of fundamentals and discipline. This article will give a brief lesson about the fundamentals of the short range shots.

Balance: This is the most important fundamental of the short game basics. If your balance is going to move all over the place, you will have trouble to get to the bottom of the ball.

Leverage: The second most important fundamental is your leverage - the way you use your arm, wrist and shaft during the swing. Flicking of the wrist very hard at a time will ensure that you to hit the ground behind the ball. So it is very important that you have to make sure that the leverage is working correct for you.

Swing play: The third most important fundamental is the swing play- the angle the club comes down on the ball. If your club comes down too vertically on the ball, you will definitely stab into the ground .On the other hand, if you come from too much behind the ball, the angle becomes too flat and you could easily patch the ball thin on the way up.

So these are the three fundamentals that really help you to establish a good contact with the golf ball. So there is a blending of the three fundamentals just like in the full swing called Motion .A good player feels the motion correctly in the golf swing while the bad player doesn't. The correct motion is like an accelerating clock- "just hold the club back and allow it to float through".

Just as in a pitch shot, if you swing the club into the ball, you will find it really difficult to get the distance control right. But if you swing the club through the ball, you would be easily able to control on your distance.

All these above points should be glued together during your short game and remember that if you practice so, you will perform really well on the golf greens.
