Classic Shaped and High Tech Ping G15 Hybrid Review

Lots of manufacturers are making their hybrids to look more like fairway woods these days, as you can see in any golf shop – but Ping have gone to a more traditional hybrid shape with their new Ping G15 hybrid. These low-cost G15 Hybrids are being marketed to the medium to high handicappers. This is a 5-club stainless steel product line spanning the equivalent of the 2 iron to 6 iron. The company says that they are the most forgiving and longest hybrids to date.

The Ping G15 Hybrid represents the biggest change from the G10 range with a unique new iron/hybrid design ensuring that this is a club which launches the ball high while keeping the spin rate low. The high launch is achieved by moving the hosel further away from the club's centre of gravity which, thanks to the unique design, is much closer to the clubface than in most hybrids.

Stability and forgiveness are increased by using a large toe pad to provide the G15 hybrid with a much more iron like weight distribution that helps to significantly increase the MOI of the G15 compared to the G10. Ping have also removed almost all the bulge and roll from the clubhead to give that iron like feel and look at address. The design also helps to increase accuracy of the G15 and reduces dispersion on hits across the entire clubface. The Ping G15 hybrid comes with a choice of TFC 149H or Aldilo Serrano 85 Hybrid shafts.

Looking down at the hybrid at address, the club maintains a clean appearance, though the offset may throw you for a loop. At first glance, you may actually forget that you're hitting a hybrid, thanks to the compact shape of the black head.

Game improvement is definitely the name of the game with the G15 hybrid. These clubs are available in almost every golf shop and they are ridiculously easy to hit, and would be a great addition to any mid to high handicapper's bag.
