Fantastic PowaKaddy winter wheel

Turf damage means greenkeepers are reluctant to allow regular electric trolley use in certain wet, wintery conditions - a source of great frustration for golfers at this time of year. PowaKaddy set about to change this and, after eight months working with British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association and an advisory panel of head greenkeepers and course managers, the winter wheel design came to fruition.

The headline feature of PowaKaddy's new winter wheel is the open tread, which evenly distributes the load over a smaller surface area avoiding compacting and denting.

The highly durable new winter wheel allows minimal ground contact, avoiding ground penetration and maintaining traction to avoid slipping. The small crown on the front and rear of the tyre reduces dragging whilst turning without loss of traction.

Simon Homer, PowaKaddy's Sales Director said that winter golf had always been a challenge and along with the help and advice of experienced greenkeepers we were delighted to have developed a solution to winter golf. And we had already seen a large take up of winter wheels with golf courses that had rental fleets and hope to see the same response in the general consumer market.

The new winter wheel can be easily retro-fitted, with a quick release mechanism, to any PowaKaddy electric trolley from the year 2000 models onwards catering for more than a quarter of a million golfers. PowaKaddy distance and speed functions do not need to be modified either.
