Lineup Changes During a Game: Are They Permitted?

Question
QUESTION: Hello,

My question is this:
This weekend we had a game.  The starting lineups were announced and presented to official scorekeeper.
At some point prior to the first batter, our manager flipped the entire lineup and replaced players who had been announced as starters is this allowed?

Thanks

ANSWER: Aaron,

In most rulesets, the lineups become official when they are presented to the home plate umpire. If this is a league where umpires do not keep the lineups, you would have to check with the league rules to determine when lineups are official.

QUESTION: Ok, thanks let's say their official once turned into our official score keeper is this a problem?

Answer
Aaron,

If the rules state the lineups are official when given to the official scorekeeper, than any changes to the lineup after that point would be considered substitutions. However, there could be local rules that supercede the rulebook in these cases.
