Baseball Error Call: Analyzing a Third Baseman's Play

Question
Our third baseman was charged with an error and I wanted to ask you if you think it should be an error or not.

The third baseman had to charge a bunt and he scooped it wiht his glove on the run and then threw to first on the run and the throw was in the dirt but a good first baseman would come up with the catch.

Does this sound like an error on the third baseman to you?  I believe it should be a hit because it wasn't a routine play and not a play that is made with ordinary effort.

Thanks!

Answer
Sorry...no way of being able to make that decision without physically seeing the play...Wish I could be of more assistance....This would be a scorer's decision based on what was seen.

Thanks for the opportunity to answer your question....Thanks, Andy
