Is there a rule about a fielder kicking a ball to first base to complete a putout

Question

The batter hits a slow dribbler between the pitcher and first base. The pitcher moves toward the ball but instead of picking it up and throwing to first base for the out,  he decides to just kick the ball to the first baseman who steps on first base and the runner is out...or is there a rule against this?

Answer
Wayne,

There is no rule that says a fielder cannot kick the ball to the first baseman.  However, if the umpire felt this action was to slow the game, or make a mockery of the game, then the pitcher could be ejected.

I hope this has helped.  Should you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
