Moving into Pony

Question
My question is about my son who has recently moved into a pony league.  In t-ball, its all about swinging until you get a hit.  Now in the Pony league, you have to chose your pitches or strike out.  My son is swinging at every pitch even if it is 6 feet over his head.  I have tried to explain what he needs to do as has his Coach.  I am the person he gets the most instruction from so I am wondering how to break this habit of swinging chaotically.

My son is 6 1/2 and is playing in a 7-8 pony league.  I pushed him up because he has great skill and I believe that introducing him to the real game would be beneficial.  But I am seeing him become discouraged at the plate.  Any tips? Or will it just come with time?

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Well I would say try a reward system with him when you are at practice.Maybe try baseball cards or something.Tell him if if he can go through practice without swinging at 10 pitces that are balls he gets a pack of baseball cards. Also try showing him during a big league game guys dont swing at everything,.  with
