Question
Hey John, I'm 15 years old, and have been pitching for competitive teams for some time now. I wanted to know how I can gain some more velocity on my fastball because my velocity isnt great right now. I also wanted to know how to properly grip and throw a curveball, split-finger fastball and a slider. I would like to add one of these pitches to the others I already have ( 2 & 4 seam fastball and a circle change). If you could get back to me, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Answer
If you can improve the efficiency of your mechanics, you might find 3 or 4 mph.
Otherwise you're just too young to be worried about velocity. Learn to pitch first, then when the velocity starts coming as you mature, you'll be ready to use it.
As far as the grips, I have pics on my website. WWW.ProPitchingOnline.com click on grips in the navigation bar.
I would add a breaking ball (curve or slider) before adding a split. Which breaking ball you choose depends on your arm slot. Find the breaking ball that looks the most like your fastball out of your hand. You might have to ask your catcher which one that is. Good Luck

Jon
