Interrupted Dribble

Situation ball handler is dribbling in back court ball hits the foot of a defender running away from the play and deflected and still bouncing would the play be considered an ended dribble wherein the ball could be gathered and the dribble restarted.

First of all, sorry it took me so long to get to your question. With the Holidays among us, it's been quite busy. With that being said, in answer to your question, this situation is not unlike a deflected pass. The ball can be gathered and then the dribble re-started as if receiving a pass for the first time. There is also the possibility the official could call a kick ball. It just depends on if the defender stuck his/her foot out.
