back court violation throw in spot

Question
Last night A1 turned the ball over from the front court to the ball court.  He retrieved it in the back court for a backcourt violation.  I attempted to place the ball to the thrower-in closest to where the violation had occurred.  My partner nearly overruled me indicating a division line throw in.  What is the correct ruling (iaabo high school rules) and where is it mentioned in the rule/case book? thanks.

Answer
HI Jeremy,

The ball should have been inbounded on the sideline or baseline nearest to where the violation occurred. It does not automatically get inbounded from the division line. I don't have my rule book with me now, so I can't site where to find it in the book but look under the "Violations" section, and you will find it in there. how long has your partner been officiating? What age level were you officiating?
