Rare Ray Scott Pro Model Rod

Question

Ray Scott Pro Model
Thanks for your help IDing the last pic I sent in.  This rod was my fathers and he believes it may have been custom made?  Ray Scott personally offered my father three of his hats for this rod...obviously my father declined.  So now I'm wondering what you can tell me.  You can see from the pic there is some pitting on the aluminum colored piece on the handle.  There is an H on the bottom of the handle (end).  The only words on the rod are "Ray Scott Pro Model"

Answer
Hi Charlee,

I would guess the rod is not a custom built rod, but it is possibly a limited edition rod endorsed by Ray Scott.  It does not appear to be heavily used, if at all.  I do not know the maker of the rod nor do I have any data regarding possible value.

Normally, older fiberglass casting rods don't command high collector values, but there are always exceptions.  I would expect this rod to be of interest to bass fishermen, particularly those who follow or participate in the BASS tournaments.

You might be able to get advice on the value from Ray Scott at his web site:   http://www.rayscott.net/sales/rod.php

I suspect this is an early model endorsed by Ray Scott and made by one of the rod making companies of the early BASS era.  They tend to use longer rods today on the circuit.  I have not found information on where or by whom the rod was sold.  I did see a couple of these rods listed on older auctions, but no pricing or sales price data is available.

Sorry, but try the Ray Scott site as it may be helpful.

Thanks,  Joe
