Need a Ner Bowlng Ball

Question
I bowl left handed and speed about 13 to 14mph at the pit.  I have three of the newer type balls and several left over from the 70抯.  揊reeze?pin over the fingers (5? from PAP and lined up thru the thumb.  揜esponse?pin over the fingers (5? with dot 1.5 inches to right of the thumb with a weight hole to balance.  Clash with the pin to the right of the fingers no weight hole required.   All three balls run late and hook hard.  The Clash turns then runs out and does not carry (90% pocket hit with 1 or 2 strikes a game).  I have an old Magnum 10 that arcs with no sudden turn and carries the strikes (finger holes are cracking).  I am wanting to get a new ball that I could use without the sharp hook.  I assume it would be a dull finished ball.  I tried to dull up the Response to 1000 grit finish.  It does turn smother but hooks way way to much.  I was thinking of getting Columbia Scout and drilling it with the pin below the fingers straight up and sanding the finish to 2000 grit.  It has been suggested to me to move the pin on the Scout to the PAP and balance the ball to get what I want.  I have also thought about getting a new Freeze and moving the PIN to below the fingers and setting it up with 1/2 oz thumb and negative 1/2 oz side weight.  I use the wrist position to control the hook and the finish but I can not get a good mid roll that doe not run out like I get with the Magnum 10.

Thanks

Answer
If you are looking for something similar to the Mag 10, then you will want to look at the new generation of urethane balls.  No matter how weak you drill a reactive coverstock bowling ball, it will have a much sharper breakpoint than urethan.  Storm, Roto Grip, and Brusnwick make urethane balls with modern core designs.  I think you would have much better success with one of these.

Good luck,
Chip
