TE help and advice

Question
Hi I'm 14 and I've never played football for a team but I honestly think I could be a very good Tight End I'm about  5'9 and around 185lbs I'm fast but not the fastest. And I also can catch and run routes I'd like some advice also I want to ask my High School coach about me joining the team but I'm not sure how to ask him also I'd like to know I there are any really good drills that would help me faster stronger and my catching improve?

Answer
Hello Kolby,

You have to approach the coach and just tell him you are interested in trying out for the team. Find a hill in your area and run sprints up that hill. This will build leg strength and speed. The leg strength is needed because tight ends need to be able to block also. A good drill for developing good hands, catching and hand eye coordination is to have someone to throw you tennis balls. Another good drill is to stand behind a (skinny) pole and have someone to throw you a football. Put the pole center of your body, and reach out with your hands to catch the ball.
