onside kick after a safety

Question
In High school after a safety can you onside kick using a tee and not punt the free kick

Answer
Hello Diontae,

That is a good question. You would be surprised to know that I called a few of my high school coaching friends and they really didn't know the answer. But  finally got a call from an official that gave me the best answer. I researched  it and it is true. According to the college/high school rule, a team has the choice of a punt or kicking tee, after a safety. And yes, they may onside kick the ball. But of course, I could only see that as a desperation move if losing late in the game.( My personal opinion)

Thank you, If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.
