Understanding Football Defensive and Offensive Gap Terminology

Question
How do you name or tell which hole/gap is which?
(1/2/3/A/B etc hole/gap)

Answer
The A gap is used for defensive purposes.  The A gap is between the center and guard.  There is a strong A and a weak A gap.  The guard tackle gap is the B, and the Tackle end gap is the C gap.  Holes are used on offense.  1,3,5 and 7 holes are on the left side.  1 hole is closest to the center and so on.  The 2,4,6 and 8 holes are to the right.  GOOD LUCK COACH NOEL!
