Football Position Nicknames & Symbols: A Comprehensive Guide

Hi Bill its been a few years since i have played football and was wondering if you could help me with something. I can't seem to remember all the nicknames for the positions(sam...will, those things) could u give them to me? that and what are the symbols for each position when your drawing up the plays(i remember i think it was the FS's symbol was a $)? Thanks a lot

"Sam" = Strongside LB, "Mike" = Middle, "Will" = Weakside LB, also SSLB, MLB, and WSLB in the common 4-3 defense.

I've never seen any symbology as you describe - I've always seen the Free Safety as "FS" or "F/S" in a play diagram, etc.
