Transitioning from Roller to Ice Hockey Goaltending: A Beginner's Guide
Question
Hi im a 16 year old goaltender who has never played ice hockey before. I'm very good at roller hockey and i play with Adults double my age. How do i make that transitions from roller to ice? And my mom got my goalie skates for ice and im going to try out next month, what do you think of that?
Thanks a lot
Aaron
Answer
Aaron, if you do not know how to ice skate at all, I suggest lessons with regular "player" skates. I would not even attempt the goalie skates until you are very comfortable with regular skates and you learn the inside and outs of skating and using your edges. Also, it is very important that you get properly fit for the skates as well. Best of luck.
