my 16 yr old son plays ice hockey jr b he wants weights to wrap around his anckles while he is skating before he does that i want to know is it good for him will it help him .thank you george

Hi George, thanks for your question

I also wanted to mention this book. I read it in high school and it is filled with workouts to improve speed, strengh, and size. It was written by Peter Twist who was the strength and Conditioning coach for the Canucks when Bure, Linden, and Mogilny played. I still use the stuff I learned in the book to this day and I still use the workouts. I ordered the newer version which is also great and has a DVD with all the workouts. skate weights do help, but do not use them all the time as they can mess up form.

You could also look into resistance bands, and also a parachute for resistance when running (cheaper than you think)
