rockering?

Question
Rob
I played hockey as a kid and was pretty good. In my forties (I am now 53) a suffered a back disc injury that left me a little stooped.
I have been invited to play a weekly pick up game with some other older guys. Problem is that although I can skate fine, and I have good hockey skates,I am very stooped over and top heavy. BTW my doc says I am cleared to play just take it easy.
The rink had figure skates to rent and I tried on a pair. To my surprise I was very upright and steady! I assume it is because of the flatter blade.
The same rink offers custom skate sharpening. I have heard you can have skate rockered or something. IS it possible to have my hockey blades shaped more like figure skate? No-I wont wear figure skates to play?
If so, just so I dont look silly, what size or angle or whatever do I tell the skate guy? Thanks!

Answer
Bud,

Sorry for the late response.  Yes, you can have the sharpener to flatten the edge for you.  Just draw the area on the side of the blade where you want it taken down and they can either use a side/cross cut stone to bring it down, or they can use a regular stone to cut it where you would like it.

Two things to be concern about.  Don't over do it.  If you back starts to hurt, go rest, no one will think of you any different.  If they call you a  p**** tell them that they are cut off for the next beer.

The second thing is, don't try and throw your leg over the boards to change when someone want you to change.  Just use the door please.  I know, I'm 54 and I throw out my back trying to look like a teenager rush out of the bench and then paid for it for two weeks.  So I don't play any more, just coach.

Hope this helps.
