What is my best position in Rugby?

Question
I know the above is a weird question which you are thinking "how on earth can I answer that without seeing him?" but let me explain!

I have been playing rugby for a while now as hooker, props and back row. I had to give up front row positions due to a injury and It really hurt! should i risk it and play that position.........?

After a year out I want to play again. Im 5' 10" (178cm) ~215lb (96KG) 44" chest, powerful legs but a bit fatty around the midriff. Medium build but not massive. Can hold my own. Not hugely fit but will be changing that now (i.e. im training at the mo) Can handle the ball well enough. Have been known to be able to read a game from a backs position and as a result been advised to consider a centre position (too slow for wing!) but I also like the involvement of a forward position... oh and Im not very good at all at kicking...

If this is a stupid question then im sorry for wasting your time.

Answer
No one has ever asked a stupid question but plenty of people are stupid for not asking a question.

You're correct about me telling you what position you should play. My gut tells me that if you sustained a fairly serious injury in the front row and that still sits with you then stay out of the front row. Flanker is a good option but if team mates / coaches are advising center then go for it. They would not suggest that to you if there wasn't a chance you would be good at it.

Also: you are not good at kicking YET. Practice at that part of your game and any other weaknesses you might have. Work on speed, and as a center learn to and practice staying on your feet and off loading the ball to support in pressure situations. A Center needs to work very closely with his flankers. Like most skills in rugby it is a myth you are born to do it, top player practice a lot and hard to get it right.

Center is a high contact position in the modern game so it should be good fun.

Get your tackling up too, read my previously answered questions on the technique I teach.
