hooker

2016/7/16 9:54:42

Question
my son is a hooker under 17s, he pretty much wins the ball from both feeds (theirs and ours), my problem is he has another parent telling him not to hook for the ball to let the pack push forward and try and get the ball that way, i dont understand why he would be telling him this, please help he is getting very confused

Answer
On your own put-in / feed the hooker must always hook, sometimes not signal from the hooker is needed just a quick feed on the engage is good. On their put-in it is up to the hooker, depending on how the engagement goes he might feel ok having a hook or it might work better to be part of a 3-man front row.

Either way who cares what a parent says - what does the official team coach say? He is really the only person allegeable to tell the boy what to do.
