Question
im a prop forward and im pretty strong and big, especially among the more skilled players in the county team. i would like to know if it is possible to be a high qualtiy prop, but have a hundread metre time of around 11.5 maybe 10.5  seconds ??? because my coaches seem to think i have a lot of potential so i want to exploit he fact that i am already pretty quick on my feet and imrpove it. Also is it neccesary to be fat to fill the weight requirements of prop ??. im p;laying on loose head if that makes a difference??.

thanks mate

Answer
Hi Khrys, No its no necessary to be "fat" your speed and strength will be a good equalizer. Yes it is possible to be a high quality prop and the prop position is a very highly paid position and a good career move. If the coaches think you have the skill and you think you do...then you need to start moving up the ranks. This means looking representative opportunities. Remember when you start moving up to dominate your position. In your head start telling yourself that everyone has to beat you to get your position.....own the position that you are aiming for and make sure your attitude is "I'm not giving up this position until the carry me off" take that attitude into training and games and people will start to notice. remember also to take your opposition prop out of the picture...physically put pressure on him at every opportunity and he will soon give up.

Let me know how you get on if you can

thanks
